The age of the Smart Guitar is here. Smart Guitars presents the Patch Sequencing Guitar (PSG) Finding that perfect Tone is hard enough, having the perfect tone at every part of a performance can be a nightmare, until now. The PSG has a built in microprocessor based Midi controller that can control up to 8 midi devices. These midi devices can be amps, preamps, effects, amp/effects switchers, mixers etc. It organizes a sequence of Presets (or Patches) that hold the setup of the guitar and the Patch number for each of the 8 midi devices. Presets are grouped together into songs, and songs can be added to set lists. You then scroll through the sequence hitting the forward button giving you the next preset in the song. Let's look at a typical guitar rig with a Marshall ½ stack, a Digitech 2120 preamp and a foot controller (substitute any equipment you can imagine). Now let's say in the first chorus of a song you want to use patch 20 on the Digitech and you want to use both pickups with the bridge turned down 3db. You would have to step on at least one footswitch, throw the toggle switch to the middle and then adjust the volumes of the pickups. Now it’s time to go back to the Tone you have for the verse, and away you go stomping, switching and mixing. Wow, I don’t know about you but when I’m on stage, the last thing I want to do is think about anything. I just want to play. And the more elaborate your setup gets, the worse it gets, like this mega system: Marshall ½ Stack Wow, how would you like to control that with a regular foot controller? No thanks. With a PSG you press one button on the guitar and it’s done. When it is time for the next Tone Patch press the same button and you have it. The PSG has a built in microprocessor based Midi controller with a Vacuum Florescent Display, 512K of memory and on onboard digitally controlled mixer. Songs are organized into Tone Patches (or presets) like: Preset 1 Intro It also organizes songs into Song lists. Song 1 Stairway to Heaven You get the idea, |
